Mexicali Mission Trip Updates

Day #1

We had an eventful first day! We had many challenges, but we also had many blessings. Through it all, we’ve learned how much we need your prayers.

  • We had participants who were unable to come right away because they had an intense fever.

  • Another participant got a bad poison oak reaction which prevented him from coming on the trip.

  • A family didn’t have the right documentation to take their car across the border.

  • A volunteer from Bolivia got sent back by Mexican immigration.

Even though we had all of these challenges, God is greater than all of our struggles.

  • We were able to bring our volunteers across the border who couldn’t bring their car across.

  • A family brought 20 boxes of books in Spanish for kids across the border without any problems.

  • We have begun our evangelistic series at the local church.

Day #2 and #3

We've made incredible progress on the church! What would have taken the church members here three months is now happening in just a few hours as we put up the walls. We're so thankful for our hardworking volunteers and all that they’ve accomplished for the church.

We had the chance to visit the orphanage. Unfortunately, we weren’t allowed to take any photos, but the experience was truly heartwarming. The kids arrived in a big bus and went through various stations set up by ADRA and BRI. These included a dental van, classes on abuse and health awareness, and a fun sermon on exercise.

Afterward, some of the kids joined those of us who don’t speak Spanish for games. It was so much fun! Some played pickleball, while others kicked around a soccer ball until it was time to say goodbye to our new friends and prepare for the evangelistic series.

We all scrambled to figure out where and how to get to our respective churches. We were able to preach powerful sermons to enthusiastic people who were hungry to discover the deep truths of the Bible. It’s inspiring to see that it doesn’t matter where God’s people gather; the Holy Spirit is always present and speaks to our hearts.
