Myanmar/Burma Mission Project 2015
Our mission project in Myanmar/Burma began in the beautiful country of Thailand. It was a more cost effective way for us to fly to Thailand and then make our way to Myanmar/Burma. When we arrived in Thailand, I was taken back by the natural beauty of the landscapes that flow from one mountain range to the other. The greenery of the landscape was my favorite as I love the great outdoors. We traveled by car to a far distant but small border crossing. There we would leave the car parked under the trees and make our way to the shores of the great Moei River that separates Thailand with Burma. We would wait for the boat to come and help us make our journey across the Moei River into Burma. I was excited to visit this remote country and to meet the local people. We were greeted with much love and warmth. I was excited to see how the Lord was going to use us.
We were welcomed by the border control post man as we walked across the small town center and into the nearby village where our mission work would begin. Our time was limited as we needed to cross the border every day because we were stationed in Mae Sot, Thailand which was a 2 hour drive each day to the mission school.
We had plans to conduct a week of Prayer meetings for all the students and staff at the mission school. It was very exciting to see young hearts and minds grasp the power of the Gospel. To see such interest and desire to learn more about our Savior. It was a tremendous blessing for me and our team to have this experience. It was so rewarding to see young hearts and minds attentive and engaged in learning new truth about the Bible. The Lord used this series of week of Prayer to draw His children even closer to Him by revealing His love and character through the Bible. Some of the topics that we covered were salvation, death, Life of Christ, hell, forgiveness, faith, baptism, heaven and sin.
We saw how the Lord blessed our efforts and I believe that seeds were planted. Our total attendance was around 240 students’ ages 9 to 16 years old. As we came towards the final few days of our week of Prayer meetings, we made an appeal for baptisms. There were some that had already been studying the Bible. It was a wonderful moment of celebration when 19 young people made the decisions to follow Jesus though the waters of baptism. Praise the Lord that He is still in the business of saving souls for His kingdom.
Thank you for your prayers and your support of this mission trip and future mission trips to come. May our Lord richly bless you and keep you as you seek to do His will. To God be the Glory for what He is doing in the lives of men and women who are open to His calling. Maranatha!
