Cocles, Costa Rica Mission Project
Simultaneously Build & Restore had a mission project in Cocles, Costa Rica, which took place from March 29 to April 8, 2026. Though smaller in size, this project was deeply impactful, with 20 dedicated volunteers serving both the physical and spiritual needs of the community. We are also especially thankful for those who gave during the project in response to our outreach messages—your timely support played a key role in what we were able to accomplish.
During our time in Cocles, the team led Vacation Bible School, hosted a Health Expo, and conducted health talks across three different locations, including the local evangelical church. In addition, volunteers served at the local elementary school, strengthening relationships within the community.
A major focus of the project was completing the treatment room at the wellness center. This included finishing the structure as well as installing concrete flooring and tile—an important step toward expanding health ministry efforts in the area.
The total cost of materials and supplies for this project was $5,000, with a direct BRI budget contribution of $4,640. Our volunteers contributed approximately 500 labor hours, representing an estimated value of $11,500. Through these combined efforts, the project achieved an estimated cost savings of $16,000.
“During the trip, we saw God work through simple remedies, health education, and personal connections. One team member began experiencing severe foot pain after walking 20,000–25,000 steps a day during the project. Using natural remedies available on the property along with prayer, the foot was wrapped overnight with a castor oil treatment, and by morning the pain had greatly improved with no further issues for the rest of the trip. It was a powerful reminder of the healing blessings God has placed in nature.”
“We were also able to share these simple remedies with others in the community. One local driver mentioned he had suffered from knee pain for months and could not afford medical care. After trying a castor oil and cayenne pepper compress for a few nights, his pain disappeared. He then began sharing what he learned with friends, several of whom also experienced relief from muscle and joint pain.”
“Another encouragement was seeing the desire people had to learn. One woman traveled over an hour each evening by motorbike just to attend the health talks and participate in the activities. Her dedication deeply encouraged our team and reminded us how much even simple ministry efforts can impact lives.”
